Apple Stores in UAE to Offer Discount on iPhone Battery Replacements
By now you’re familiar with #BatteryGate, the scandal that’s helped shake consumer trust in one of the world’s most popular brands. After Apple admitted it deliberately slowed down older iPhones with ageing batteries, the company is now trying to make things right by offering a discount to customers.

Here’s the offer: Apple is reducing the price of an out-of-warranty iPhone battery replacement from AED 303.5 to AED 113.5 – for anyone with an iPhone 6 or later whose battery needs to be replaced. Customers can walk into any Apple store in the UAE through December 2018 to avail the offer. (We recommend calling ahead first to confirm that replacement batteries are in stock.)
The company responds to public backlash
After news of #BatteryGate broke, Apple released a statement trying to bring clarity to the situation, even walking users through the life cycle of an iPhone battery.
“First and foremost, we have never — and would never — do anything to intentionally shorten the life of any Apple product, or degrade the user experience to drive customer upgrades,” Apple wrote. “We’ve always wanted our customers to be able to use their iPhones as long as possible.”
The company is trying to address the issue with its latest iOS software update. New features give users more visibility into the health of their iPhone’s battery, so they can see for themselves if its condition is affecting performance. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see…
