It’s been the subject of intense speculation over the last 48 hours, but event organisers have now confirmed: Ed Sheeran’s date with Dubai is still happening.
Event organisers 117 Live released this statement: “We have now received an update from Ed Sheeran’s team that he is unable to perform for the immediate future.”
It continues: “Since Dubai is the last show of the season we have been told that the show is still going ahead as planned. Until we receive any further feedback from Ed we are sending him get well wishes from Dubai and we hope to see him soon.”
Ed Sheeran Dubai gig in jeopardy?
The tour crisis began on Wednesday when Sheeran revealed in an Instagram post that he fractured his “right wrist and left elbow that will leave me unable to perform live concerts for the immediate future.” The 26-year-old was injured when he was knocked down by a car while cycling in London.
So far he’s cancelled 7 concerts in Asia including Taipei, Osaka, Seoul, Tokyo and Hong Kong.
For now, Sheeran is still waiting to hear from doctors as to whether he’s fit to perform upcoming shows on his tour (the singer uses his guitar extensively on stage.) He is scheduled to perform in town on November 23 at the Autism Rocks Arena.
