We Will Soon Have to Pay for Parking in JLT
Free parking in JLT is about to come to an end. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and DMCC have signed an agreement that calls for managing and operating car parks for JLT visitors. This means that JLT parking will no longer be free. The introduction of paid parking will happen in two stages, with the first stage happening by the end of 2017. JLT Parking Agreement
According to the agreement, the introduction of paid parking in JLT will happen as follows:
Stage one: By the end of 2017, there will be 1936 parking slots classified into different zones.
Stage two: By 2020, there will be about 460 parking slots will be provided.
According to Eng. Maitha Bin Adai, CEO of RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, there will be no seasonal parking permits for this area as residential parking is provided within the apartment blocks.
Parking prices in JLT and Timings
- Timings for the paid parking in JLT will be from 8am to 10pm, from Saturday to Thursday
- The price will be AED 4 per hour for parking slots at the entrance of blocks as well as roadside parking spaces
- Premium parking will be provided at a rate of AED 10 for a maximum of 3 hours
- Payment of parking fees in JLT will be via text messages and the RTA Dubai app
The aim of the new parking agreement is to steamline parking in an area with high occupancy.
