Going to watch the Burj Khalifa fireworks in Downtown on New Year’s Eve? Here’s everything you need to know regarding road closures, Dubai Metro timings, shuttle buses and more…
Everything to know before heading Downtown on NYE
All roads leading to Burj Khalifa area will be closed on December 31; closure timings as follows:
- Al Asayel St from 4pm
- Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Blvd from 5pm (once Dubai Mall parking is full)
- Happiness Street from Roda Al Murooj intersection from 6pm, Zabeel intersection from 8pm and Emirates Towers roundabout from 10pm
- Financial Centre Rd (Upper and Lower levels) from 8pm
- Al Sukook St. from 8pm
Dubai Metro/Tram timings and station closures
- Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station will be closed from 10pm-6am. Passengers are advised to use either DIFC or Business Bay metro stations
- Dubai Metro Red Line will run all night starting at 5am on Monday, December 31 until midnight on Tuesday, January 1 (while the Green Line will start service at 5:30am)
- Dubai Tram will operate from 6am-1am (following day) on Monday, December 31 and Tuesday, 1 January 2019
Shuttle buses
- There will be 170 shuttle buses made available to take passengers to and from the event area; there will be 6 locations to watch the fireworks
- Public buses will be operational all night
- After the event, shuttle buses will transport passengers to areas where taxis are available, including Lower and Upper levels of DIFC, Dubai Mall Metro Station
- Buses will be available to transport passengers to Al Jafiliya Station, Deira City Centre, Noor Islamic Bank
- There will be a pedestrian crossing across SZR near Dubai Mall Metro
If you’re driving into Downtown Dubai…
- Park your car at one of the 3,000 spaces in the surrounding Downtown area at Al Wasl Club, Mankhol Mosque or General Directorate of Resiency and Foriegn Affairs
- All paid parking zones will be free across Dubai (except multi-level parking lots) on Tuesday, 1 January 2019
