Much more than a shopping mall, Mall of the Emirates has a heap of awesome activities to keep you busy this summer. We’ll start with an extravagant favourite and then plunge you into the fun, free and more affordable!
The Aspen inspired chalet
By now, you’ll all know about Mall of the Emirates’ indoor ski resort… but did you know that it ACTUALLY has luxury slope-side chalets too? Thanks to one of the mall’s resident Kempinski Hotel, you can watch the locals carve down the slopes… and if you squint your eyes a little, you’ll even feel like you’re in Aspen.
Cheaper option: You can book to camp overnight in Ski Dubai every Friday from 29th July onwards… bring the woolies!
Personal shop ’til you drop
What’s the point in fabulous fashion if you don’t know how to wear it? That’s exactly what our buddies at Harvey Nichols thought and thankfully they’ve done something about it. Head to one of the fashion sanctuary’s three floors and meet your new best friend, the Harvey Nichols personal shopper. They’ll get you from drab to dapper in no time. Check out why we love them so much here:
Look fine on the zip-line
Head to the resident ski resort and look up. That’s where you’ll see Ski Dubai’s mammoth sub-zero zip-line towering above the slopes… another world first? You bet it is. But don’t worry if you’re afraid of heights, the zip-line travels at 40 mph… you’ll be at the bottom before you know it!
Pet-a-penguin
If you feel well enough to hang around after your zip-line experience then you’ll be sure to bump into the mall’s most adorable attraction – the King and Gentoo penguins. You can either head to the Penguin Enclosure for a fluffy encounter or hang around the slopes and watch the March of Penguins for free four times a day. With names like Pumpkin and Wall-E, we dare you not to squeal with joy.
Get climbing
If you’re looking for a quirky workout in an even quirkier location then head over to the mall’s biggest sports store. Yup, the mall has its very own climbing wall equipped with specialist staff and all the relevant safety kit. And if you feel inspired to get fit, just have a look around the store – they’ve got everything, from fat biking to frozen yoghurt.
Robo your roller coaster
Head up to level two and you’ll find MOE’s indoor family entertainment centre. Stroll past the rides and games and you’ll meet RoboCoaster; it’s a fully mechanised human shaker-upper. This place is kitted out with things to do for both adults and children.
Secret shisha
Tucked away on the third floor of Harvey Nichols is Almaz by MoMo – the mall’s North African shisha sanctuary. Unless you’re one of the few who already know it exists, you’ll feel like you’ve discovered a city secret hidden within a department store. If shisha’s not your thing, you can give one of their famous mocktails a try.
Go Gaucho
Indulge in a meat feast at one of our favourite South American restaurants. While there are foodie stop-offs all around the mall, Texas de Brazil takes you on a little Latin American trip. It’s an all-you-can eat adventure that’s great for a foodie get-together with friends and family.
Get on your dancing shoes
Nestled away in the mall’s orange carpark is DUCTAC Arts Centre. Run by the Dubai Community Theatre & Arts Centre, the courses are the perfect way to keep the city’s budding dancers happy. With ballet, jazz, hip-hop and more, there’s something for everyone.
Check out a movie in miniature
Most of you will be aware of the mall’s brand spanking new cinema, but did you know that there’s a dedicated theatre just for kids (right beside Vox ThEATre). With elevated seats, brightly coloured walls and even a party room , Vox Kids is a must for our mini movie lovers.
