Why it’s great: At 155 meters below sea level, Lake Assal is the third-lowest point on Earth after the Sea of Galilee and Dead Sea — and the saltiest. Located in the stunning Danakil Desert surrounded by rolling hills, spend the day floating in the turquoise-blue waters while taking in the sights of traditional salt caravans led by camel herders… it’s pretty magical.
