Get ready to geek out, astronomy lovers, because a rare celestial event is happening in the skies across UAE next week.
Described by Nasa as a lunar trifecta, the ‘super blue blood moon’ will appear in the sky on January 31. A combination of a super moon, blue moon and total lunar eclipse happening all at once, it’s definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Where to witness the supermoon eclipse:
The best time to view the ‘super blue blood moon’ will be at 6:04pm in Dubai and 6:06pm in Abu Dhabi, when the moon nears the horizon. You’ll have just 3 minutes to witness the total lunar eclipse, so get your positions ready!
- Dubai Astronomy Group is organising a ‘Super Moon Eclipse’ event at the Al Thuraya Astronomy Centre in Mushrif. Entry is AED 20 per person; AED 10 for kids; AED 30 for families of four. Call +971 4 221 6603 for details.
