When news broke that Sharjah will be hosting the UAE’s largest entrepreneurship festival, many budding startups had reason to be excited. And when it comes to Sharjah events, it doesn’t get any bigger than this.
The Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival is a two-day event that will run on November 21 and 22 at Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club. The event will connect entrepreneurs, investors and idea-makers in the UAE, along with some of the region’s most successful people.
We’re especially excited because our #BossLady founder, Tanaz Dizadji, has been invited to speak at the event. Tanaz will deliver a talk on ‘Survival Instincts: How to survive in the startup jungle!’; check it out on November 22 from 4pm to 4.30pm at the Fireside Stage.
Here are 3 things you should know before attending:
1. There’s big money up for grabs…
No joke – we’re talking serious money that young startups are always on the lookout for. Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival is hosting a pitch competition and giving away $40,000 (around AED 150,000) to the winning business idea. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon!
2. Big-name speakers are attending…
The line-up of attendees set to speak is impressive, starting with Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar Properties. He will be joined by executives from The Abraaj Group, Wamda Capital, and many more. insydo founder Tanaz Dizadji, who just launched her second company Brand Ripplr, will also be on hand to talk about surviving the startup life.
3. There’s food and entertainment…
Uhhh… did somebody say ‘food trucks’? TruckersDXB will be on site serving up a range of tasty bites. The schedule also includes yoga sessions with Rise Fitness Boutique, and music performances by artists like Hamza Hawsawi of X Factor Middle East fame, Hamdan Al-Abri and more.
