Oh Netflix… what would our lazy weekends be like without you? If you want to take your viewing to the next level, it’s time you learned these 5 invaluable Netflix hacks and tricks. Check them out…
1. Unlock hidden categories
How it works: Most of the content available on your Netflix grid is formulated based on stuff you’ve already watched. But there’s a way to unlock hundreds of hidden categories with ‘secret’ codes, giving you access to Netflix’s master list of subgenres like Tearjerkers, Slapstick Comedies, Vampire Horror Movies and more. The easiest way to do it is by installing a special Netflix extension to your Chrome browser.
2. Download shows for offline viewing
Netflix now offers you the option to download your favourite shows/films and watch them offline without an Internet connection. To access the Download & Go feature, all you have to do is install the Netflix app on your Apple or Android device. So whether you’re stuck in the airport or want to keep entertained on the Metro, you’ll never have to worry about weak Wi-Fi again.
3. Play Netflix Roulette
How it works: If you spend the majority of your time on Netflix scrolling the grid in the hopes of finding something… ANYTHING… to watch, you’re not alone. That’s where Netflix Roulette comes in handy. Just insert a few details into the search box and Netflix Roulette will randomly select something just for you. While it might not be an exact science, it’s great if you’re feeling really indecisive.
4. Customise your subtitles
How it works: Did you know that you can alter the appearance of subtitles on Netflix? In the My Profile section, select Subtitle Appearance and you’ll be able to change things like font size and colour of Netflix subtitles.
5. Disconnect the freeloaders
How it works: Everyone has that one friend who pays for Netflix while the rest of us use their account log-in details, month after month. If that’s you, there’s an easy way to cut the chord for all the Netflix freeloaders in your life. First go to your account page and change the password. Then go to Settings and select ‘Sign Out of All Devices’. It’s called tough love, baby.
