A dine-in cinema that also serves drinks?! Yep, that’s our weekend plans sorted. Dubai’s first licensed cinema is now open for business, and it’s definitely one for the bucket list. Stacks of nachos, creative drinks and zero kids around – here’s what the experience is like…
The ‘Reel’ Way to Dine-in
The newest Reel Cinemas at Jebel Ali Recreation Club features four screens playing all the latest films. Each cinema hall has around 36 seats and long communal tables designed for a proper sit-down dining experience. We really like how spaced out the rows are – no more tall people blocking our view! (#shortpeopleproblems) Once the movie begins, your meal is served in 20-30 minute intervals, beginning with starters and followed by mains and dessert.
Drinks served to your seat
Yep, the new licensed cinema in Dubai comes with a butler who serves drinks right to your seat. There’s a limit of two drinks allowed inside, but cinema-goers are welcome to stay back and enjoy a couple more after the movie. The cinema has a fully-stocked bar at the entrance, with friendly bartenders who can whip up anything from classic drinks to tasty cocktails made with fresh fruits.
Mac ‘n Cheese Burgers, anyone?
We tucked into a stack of ‘Trash Can‘ nachos and a tasty hummus trio dish for starters, followed by a big juicy beef-bacon mac ‘n cheese burger with home-style fries for our main course. Already in a food coma by this point, we couldn’t leave without having dessert. They serve specialties like 7-layer chocolate cake and marble cheesecake – which is an absolute must-try.
What we loved most:
- The licensed cinema has an age limit of 21+. No crying babies FTW!
- Reel Cinemas dine-in cinema in Jebel Ali is just around the corner from Ibn Battuta Mall
- The food menu has a decent variety of veggie options too
- Each course of your meal is spaced out throughout the movie, so you don’t finish it all at once
